My Name Is Khan

Directed By : Karan Johar
Cinematographer: Ravi.K.Chandran
The film has minor flows but the LASTING IMPRESSION is ,IT IS A MOVIE WORTH WATCHING. In the first half , I felt there’s a little dragging and didnt find a valid reason for Kajol to love Khan . The acting of Khan in the begining was not easily acceptable for me. BUT Later , in the second half the Script took over all the minor problems and was really ADRENALINE pumping. The African Mother & Kid in the church sequence really touched me. The film has a very contemporary theme. I strongly appreciate Karan Johar’s courage to take this theme for the story. The film is really gonna make the WORLDWIDE film lovers happy and satisfied . Congratulations for the whole crew , especially Ravi K Chandran’s cinematography that goes along with the mood of the story. The songs are pleasing too.If u have little patience , its really worth watching My Name Is Khan .
Up in the Air (2009)

Directed by : Jason Reitman
Cinematography :Eric Steelberg
The film is so Calm , Quiet & Simply Lovable.
The film is about RYAN , a man whose unique job is to fly around the country to inform people that they are fired. Ryan believed that relationships are a burden and wanted to live like a free bird. Ryan meets another woman of his ideas, Alex .Later Ryan realized that he wanted a soulmate , but was shocked to see Alex already had a family
The film simply gives us the moral that relations are not a burden.and sometimes meeting our goal will be less exciting than we have imagined ,unless we have somebody to share the happiness.(Ryan was not excited when he achieved his goal of 10 million air miles) Its a MUST WATCH for family audience. We walk out of the theatre thinking about what is really important
This film addresses the current economic crisis, the generation gap, air travel, love, technology, downsizing among many other relevant topics.
Trivia:
With the exception of the famous actors, every person we see fired in the film is not an actor but a real life recently laid off person. The filmmakers put out ads in St. Louis and Detroit posing as a documentary crew looking to document the effect of the recession. When people showed up, they were instructed to treat the camera like the person who fired them and respond as they did or use the opportunity to say what they wished they had.

A FANTASTIC MOVIE. IT MAKES YOU SIT AT THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT FROM START TO END. This film about a Bomb Specialist who defuses Bombs in the American occupied Iraq is so well taken. Shot with multi cameras and mostly handheld, with visceral cuttings , the audience gets fully absorbed to the movie.used multiple cameras to capture multiple perspectives, saying, "That's how we experience reality, by looking at the microcosm and the macrocosm simultaneously. The eye sees differently than the lens, but with multiple focal lengths and a muscular editorial style, the lens can give you that microcosm/macrocosm perspective, and that contributes to the feeling of total immersion." Its also emotionally Well packed. I STRONGLY recommend this movie to all my dear FILM LOVERS. A MUST MUST SEE Film . Cheers !!

Unnai Pol Oruvan & Eenadu(Telungu version ),remake of the film "a Wednesday" ,is a good film. It is a relevant movie made in unique format ( Red One Camera).
‘Unnai Pol Oruvan’ is a story that revolves around a calamitous day where the entire city is shook with a single call from that starts off the thriller drama. A stranger (Kamal) over the top of under-construction building’s terrace makes a call to city commissioner (Mohan Lal) stating that he has planted bombs at various parts of the city.
Now, it’s up to city commissioner for settling down the backbreaking task. Well, the stranger wants to release 4 most wanted terrorists held as prisoners by the government or else he would blast the entire city.
Since, it’s too difficult to go around the city and detonate the bombs, the police department has to go flexible over the stranger’s offer.
But when the terrorists are released, there’s something more shocking for the cops and as well the audiences
I loved the IIT guy who come toaid the police in decoding the strangers' calls .
A MOVIE that makes you happy.

GLADIATOR (2000)

Cinematography by : JOHN MATHIESON

Maximus(Russel Crowe),is a Roman general who leads the troops in conquering Germania for the Roman Empire. Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) ,the Emperor of Rome tells Maximus that he'd like him to rule Rome once he's gone . Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), the emperor's only son, who is thirsty for power ,kills the emperor and put blame on Maximus.Maximus is set to be executed. He escapes, his wife and child have been murdered by Commodus. He is captured as a slave by the profiteering Proximo (Oliver Reed, in his last role).Renamed Spaniard and forced to become a gladiator, Maximus must kill or be killed in the ring, battling to save not only himself but the future of the very empire that he loves and honors.
The film features a terrific battle sequence, huge crowd scenes of thousands of people, and even a little romance. The impeccably choreographed gladiator scenes are violent yet thrilling, flashing by like lightning. GLADIATOR is a glorious spectacle filled with heart and soul.
TRIVIA:Oliver Reed(Proximo)suffered a fatal heart attack during filming. The British,CG company Mill created a digital body double for the remaining scenes involving his character Proximo by photographing a live action body-double in the shadows and by mapping a 3D CGI mask of Reed's face to the remaining scenes during production at an estimated cost of $3.2 million for two minutes of additional footage The film is dedicated to his memory

CITY OF GOD (2002)

Directed by :FERNANDO MIRELLES ,Kátia Lund (co-director)
Cinematographed by:CESAR CHARLONE
Set in a real life drug and violence- ridden housing project called Cidade de Deus, the story follows two boys who take opposite paths. One chooses to pursue photography, while the other becomes a ruthless drug dealer.Youth gangs took over the slums of Rio de Janiero during the 1960s and didn't relinquish their stronghold until the mid-1980s.
Technically flawless, this Brazilian film uses a rapid-cutting style to flash back and forth in time.
All of the amateur actors were recruited from slums in Rio de Janeiro, and a couple of them actually lived in the Cidade de Deus (City of God) itself.
Eventhough nominated for 4 oscars, it failed in getting one. But one can be sure that this film is far better than "SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE" , which also has a similar thread.
IMDB rates #17/Top 250 films
